Code the Gap is a University of Minnesota student group. We strive to diversify STEM fields by teaching Python to teach K-12 students and encouraging the participation of historically underrepresented groups in STEM. Currently, Code the Gap has more than 15 volunteer instructors to teach the students skills in computer science and create opportunities for them to engage with STEM. We are going to be working with two schools in Spring 2023.

Get Involved

There are various ways to get involved with Code The Gap!

  1. Volunteer to be an instructor. You do not need to have prior experience with Python, some basic knowledge of programming principles should be good enough. We just want to give the students an introduction to the topic and keep the classes engaging, so if you love teaching and working with students be sure to apply!
  2. Apply to become a board member and help with the decision-making and planning that is extremely important to achieve our goals. The positions currently open are listed below. If you do not find a position of your interest right now, keep an eye on our social media for information about open positions or email us to learn more.
